To make a long story short, we had a "hobo" chow-lab mix that lived for 16 years and was the best yard dog -- she was really my DH's dog -- and it was one of the saddest days of my life three years ago when I had to put her down after she suffered several strokes and was so arthritic in her hind legs she had to crawl to walk. I swear the puppy we got today is our old girl reincarnated! She's a sweetie, very gentle, and even crawled up in my lap this afternoon and took a nap.
