There is a lot of yellow in my gardens b/c it's DH's fave color. This is stretching it a bit, but it's cast iron plant "Milky Way". It's dotted w/ yellow spots, not white.

You'd probably never believe that I bought that orchid in the Keys for $15. It was 'large' when I got it, but has since grown huge. Although you can't see it in that photo, it currently has 8 spikes blooming off of 8 different keiki's from the mama. Its kind of like the ultimate specimen plant. When one blooms, they all seem to bloom.

MJ love your yellow salvias. Have never seen the jap. sage b4. wish I had any moist areas left so I could grow it. As to the madrensis, I have planted it twice but have not returned after winter. Other people in my area grow it w/o care. where is yours planted?

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

That Japanese Sage is gorgeous. I had the opposiste trouble with the S. madrensis Nery, mine was a thug and had to be ditched.

Vos,
I've planted it in two places, one in morning sun/afternoon shade, one just the opposite. It does get big, but mine don't get out of control...course I've got a pretty big yard to put the big guys.
I mulch heavily in winter, and Salvia's don't like too much water in winter. Also the one in afternoon shade does not get as much water in summer either and doesn't get as big as the other one.
If you ever want to plant it again I've usually got extra starts for it.
The Japanese yellow sage is one of my favorites, I've got several Japanese and Chinese sages.

Maypop that sounds very familiar LOL. Tags on my orchids are a sometime thing thanks to the greenhouse squirrel population and the big black snakes that chase them around and knock stuff off.

Gothgueen , you don't have any trouble with you sunshine tree ? They have been around here for years untill a gall wasp showed up. I miss it. Nice plant.

Gainesville, FL

My main one is in my greenhouse. It stays okay. I took a bunch of cutting off it this spring, propagated them and have planted some out. Want to see it they make it through our winter like my E. crista-gallii does. SO far the only thing that bothered them was a few grasshoppers.

I have a big E. crista-gallii in the yard that nothing has bothered, but, I have an E. x bidwillii that never blooms because it has either the wasp or the stem borer and all the blooms get destroyed before they open. This has been going on for about 6 years. I have seen ONE bloom.
