Thank you, Jo! I didn't think anyone would come visit the site yet, as I'm not finished - lots more pictures, and yes, we really enjoyed the spot we had!
Thanks for the help on the flower names ^_^
Waterton, Alberta camping 2010
Friday, and I'm braving the hill - it's very steep and I climbed it on a whim...... but I did it! It's stony, and not very good footing - not "true" trails. They're mini rock slides that are the only way to climb up. Bob's at our site, taking the picture. I wish I'd taken my camera with me - maybe next time.
I don't have pictures of our last morning - it was toooooo tiring. Took 2 1/2 hours to break camp - 10-person tent, all the tarping, and all the packing....... phew!
Maybe next trip we'll have a tent trailer....... just stuff everything in, and unpack later LOL
Hope to have new pictures next trip - Long Weekend in August? hmmmm we'll see!!
Hope you enjoyed the pics as much as we enjoyed the reality ^_^
Wonderful pics Susan .. looks as though you had an awesome time .. and .. that's what it's ALL about ^_^
~M~
thank you - we enjoyed it so much we want to return on the Long Weekend!
Susan looks like a nice relaxing time, and lots to see! Great pics, love all of them! Thanks for sharing your trip!
Susan-the pic with the flower you said had a woody stem is Geranium, the 2nd is Lupine, the 3rd is Bee balm and the yellow one is Coreopsis. Nice pics-looks like you had a great time!!
Susan, Canada is so pretty, and I bet being up in those Mountains is very relaxing!
Thanks for sharing the pictures.
I went to work today, still feeling the effects of the vacation - I'd go back in a MINUTE!
Now, we're waiting to see if we've been approved for a loan for a tent trailer (we've been sleeping in a tent, and although it's big - 10 person - it's 2 1/2 hours to put up and take down Each Time).
We'll likely find out tomorrow.
I'm still feeling mellow........ ^_^
Thank you so much for sharing Susan. ^_^
Love the pic with the volcanic rock surrounded by wildflowers with the mountains in the background.
Sandy
Oh, I love that pic, too! and seriously...... if I could lift it!!
but, there's likely a lot more to the rock below ground........
THe one with small pinkish flowers is Spreading Dogbane, and the small leathery leaves is Kinnikinnick. You should go sometime during the Wildflower Festival...third week in June. Take some of the tours..some are at no charge..and you will see amazing flowers not occuring north of the Oldman R. e.g. Mariposa lily, Bear Grass ( a lily).
Nice pics.
Great photos. I forgot to mention the Canadian Thistle looks more like Bull Thistle. Both Canada and Bull Thistle are on the noxious wee lists, I don't see why the Bull one is as I have never seen anymore than a few in a patch. the Canada thistle is a terrible colonizer, you see huge patches of it even in the city!
The one that looks like frilled daisies is a fleabane. The Gaillardia (brown eyed susans), Prairie smoke, kinnikinnick and the wild geranium all do well in our gardens too.
