CLOSED: Impressive caterpillar

Georgetown, SC(Zone 8a)

Anyone recognize this voracious little caterpillar. Actually, a pretty big caterpillar, about 3" long.
He's munching on weeds at the edge of a pond.

This is a caterpillar of a banded sphinx, Eumorpha fasciata (Lepidoptera: Sphingidae); see http://tinyurl.com/ykytrwa

Well that makes sense since I found and photographed a Banded Sphinx in my garden last year. At least I'm pretty sure that's what it was?

Whaddaya think?
