CLOSED: Yuck - What is this huge bug?

In Southeast Florida - this is the second one found dead in the same room with 2 weeks. This bug is HUGE, I would judge around 1 1/2" to 2" - reddish brown. Need to know what it is and how to prevent more from keeping us company!

You do have a cockroach, but it is not the native 'palmetto bug' (Eurycotis floridana) - see http://tinyurl.com/2bpvytf for images. Instead, it appears to be one of the peridomestic species in the genus Periplaneta such as the Australian cockroach, Periplaneta australasiae - see http://tinyurl.com/25zfama for an image.
