Clear prescription bottles for saving seeds

Silver Spring, MD(Zone 6b)

I was just wondering if one could use the clear bottles your prescription comes in for saving/storing seeds. All you'd have to do is make your own label up and tape or stick it around that bottle. Seems such a waste to throw them out but sometimes the drugstore label is inpossible to get off. Wonder if you could soak it off in hot water? I would definately wash with soap and water the inside of the pill bottle and make sure it good and dried inside before storing seeds in it. Just a thought, don't know if it would work or not. My husband takes so much medicines and it would be good to recycle those bottles when empty.

Should be fine if you are storing them in the right temp / darkness for the seed's requirements. Great way to recycle too!! I use vitamin bottles that are dark brown but translucent for seeds in larger quantities. I remove the labels for looks - soak in hot water, then use Goo-Gone or a similar product to remove the gummy that's left.

Pippi21 I have been using perscription bottles for years, I even have friends who save them for me. I like to recycle and that's a good was to recycle these bottles. I have used alot of them to send certain seeds and bulbs in the mail. Keep up the good work!!

Goo-gone! I'll look for that. I soak for days in water, then scrape, then use 99% alchol.

For some glues, that works great, you just have to keep wiping away the slime with clean paper.

For other glue, no-go.

I have a 4-pound peanut butter tub I want to use for small enevlopes of seeds ... Goo-gone!

I've even tried mineral spirits, but it seems as likely to dissove the plastic as the label's glue.
