Orb Weaver?

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

We named this spider Fred but its probably a female spider. For the amount of looking I have come to the conclusion that its an orb weaver spider but dont know the what kind. It finally came out early and I caught this picture. To my surprise, there is a small visitor below the grasshopper...baby or another spider leaching?

wrong forum, sorry

This forum is for questions relating to adding data to the BugFiles database.

We have a forum on Insect and Spider Identification here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/bugid/all/
and if you post your question there, you may get some help,

If you have an image, you could attach it to the message you post for a better chance of getting an identification

Having said that, I can perhaps help you with your spider. You are right that it is an orb-weaver and I am pretty sure that it is the extremely variable Western Spotted Orbweaver - Neoscona oaxacensis: http://bugguide.net/node/view/16526/bgimage

We have a page for that species on BugFiles: http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/2101/ but have no images so far and would be very pleased if you would add your image to that page
