I saw this spider on the screen of my lanai. It was very aware of my movements turning to 'watch' me as I tried to snap a good picture. The dorsal side of the abdomen appeared to have a gold colored circle with a different colored center to it. (black maybe??) It kept spinning around when I was trying to get a good pic from the rear. Body length was approx 1 1/4". It looked like it might be a type of jumping spider so I couldn't get too close to photo. Thanks
Please ID this fuzzy spider
This is a jumping spider (family Salticidae), likely in the genus Phidippus, but the image is too small for me to be certain of a specific i.d. - the largest species in this family in Florida (and the eastern USA for that matter) is Phidippus regius, whose females can reach a maximum body length of just under an inch - see http://tinyurl.com/2eua3w7
Thank you Suunto. She's the one in the pic you sent me.
