Yes that's what I alluded to in the original post with the photo. Its a sport of Dr. Moy. It happens spontaneously, and was marketed a couple years ago as a 'new' ginger with a new name (which I think was Tahitian Flame, I'd have to look it up).
Sometimes, the plants that come off the rhizomes of the first stalk that mutated stay highly variegated, mine all have for a few years. But there have been reports from people who spent big big bucks to purchase the one I think is called Tahitian Flame that sometimes it reverts back to a plain old Dr. Moy.
