Found in Oklahoma City, OK, July 12th.
CLOSED: 2" Long flying green and black bug
This appears to be one of the so-called 'dog-day' cicadas (Hemiptera/Auchenorrhyncha: Cicadidae) in the genus Tibicen - see http://tinyurl.com/2cqvk9u for images and http://tinyurl.com/255fdvr for more information.
Now you understand why we named our black pug "cicada". :)
