This one was on my daylily, kinda cute face. Looks bee like, about an inch+long.

This is a robber fly (Diptera: Asilidae) in the genus Laphria, which includes many excellent bee mimics (see http://tinyurl.com/2at2l7l for an example. These flies are ambush predators on other small arthropods. Very Funny..amazing how your thoughts change when your trying to protect the BF's. I was a woman on a mission to kill those wasps when I saw they were killing my larvae. Which as you know I have a hard time killing anything.
