CLOSED: eggs on my cucumber leaf

Chapel Hill, NC

Can any of you tell me what kind of insect eggs these are on my cucumber vine? I live in Chapel Hill, NC. They don't look like cucumber beetle eggs. I have them in a mesh container so I can see what hatches, but it is nice to be prepared. Thank you.

These look very much like the eggs of the squash bug, Anasa tristis (Hemiptera/Heteroptera: Coreidae) - see http://tinyurl.com/22lhom4 for detailed information.

Thank you. At first I was a little skeptical because the eggs were on the top rather than the underside, but the NC extension has a photo showing eggs that look exactly like mine, including the darker color, so there may be some regional differences. I don't like pesticides, so I am off to go pick off any squash bugs and eggs off of the rest of my plants (it is a very small garden, so that won't be as bad as it sounds!)

I find these eggs on the tops of leaves as well, and make a daily survey of the squash/pumpkin patch to detect and destroy any egg masses i find.
