Thanks Linda, I'm HOOKED LoL

Feel well soon Susan ..

Off and running

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sorry to hear you are not feeling well Susan, perhaps you went back to work earlier than you should have..not nice to be ill while on vacation, ask me, just had 11 days of vacation and was ill the entire time..no fun!!!Am sure your new meds will put you on the road to recovery..

Know I'm going to be in trouble with my brother next time he visits..while he was over making a landing and steps from the back bedroom decking he made a small corner step and I said no/no/no but he said yes/yes/yes..said nobody uses the decks anyway, why concern myself..

You know me, stubborn as they come, had a plan, wanted a bigger step so ordered the wood yesterday, they delivered same day (they must know how impatient I am) changed the corner step to a 4 1/2 ' long x 2 ' wide step..might even put a secondary step..will determine if I need it once all the sod around it had been dug up so I can plant shrubs..lol...sooo my brother most likely WILL NOT be happy with me! Got to do what you got to do right?

Linda, as soon as I have a few seconds I'm going to go to the link you provided..lordy, hope it doesn't get me into more trouble..lol

Rained heavily last night, now it's a light mist...not sure what they are calling for this weekend...

Jeff and Julie are dropping in tomorrow before they start their 3 week kayak trip, hope the first days of their travels it isn't raining..

Quiet day here at the office, not sure what I can do to fill my day..must be something interesting on the movie channels..lol

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I did go back to work too early, but had moving of Dr's to do to their new offices, and had to get ready for an additional Dr in our admin office.
No new meds - only suggested codeine cough suppressant. And rest.
Waterton looks like it will be drier than Calgary, so that's a plus. We've had soooo much rain lately, it's no wonder I'm so bronchial....... Calgary is usually so DRY that it's brown by now, and it's still verdant green. Sounds weird for a gardener to say, but I want Brown Grass LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Know I mentioned this on another thread but maybe someone here as a remedy...

Missy, my black/white kitty never strays from home, over the weekend she went missing, decided maybe she was on holidays and would return..by Monday no kitty...

Last night when I got home from work Cathy had left me a note saying that when she was over to put Sailor out, decided to check the back deck, opened the door and there was Missy..now missy never makes a sound, strange though that she wasn't clawing at the bedroom door so that I might hear her but not...she did pee on the end of the bed...I washed all the bedding/quilt/lap quilt including 1 cup of rug cleaner to get rid of odors that I had laying around hoping it would stop the smell, then I disolved the rest of the cleaner into water and washed the end of the mattress...it's brand new and I so hope I'll not have to throw it away..any ideas?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

ewwwwwww smelly thing to totally get out!! Did you try baking soda on the mattress? It needs a good airing out, for sure!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Will pick some up on my way home tonight..have the patio door open..doesn't smell yukky I just think it does..will ask friends who drop over from time to time and see if they smell the odor...maybe I caught it on time...

need baking soda anyway to do my silver that I have sitting on back deck for flower pots...lol...

Edmonton, AB(Zone 3a)

OK
Hope you are feeling better Susan.
As far as smells go I wonder if anyone else noticed the mattress and flower corelation?
Sorry for my bad humour but isn't that the big flower that blooms and smells like rotten meat? Just had to have a chuckle even though the mattress is a serious thing it caught my funny bone.
Back when I was at Kew Gardens they had one of the big flowers flowering and one in bud, they were quite amazing, huge things and we held our breath as we went through that part of the garden.
On another note it is raining here again! The temp last night was around 8 so I shut my G house and am I ever glad I left my Tomatoes in there in tree pots this year.

Had a visitor last night from the past. A girl I went to school from grade 1 through 12 with was back in town and we talked our faces off. It was great to catch up and I can't believe how we still look the same!

Bye for now.
Ann

Victoria Harbour, ON

LOL you have me laughing Ann...

Nice to meet up with old friends...now that you've caught up you can meet regularly!

It's hot here, a/c in office not working..we've been waiting for a/c repairman all day, guess with this heat everyone needs them...

1/2 hr. and homeward bound..can't wait

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Sad news today from my contact at Animal Control- the sheltie they had did not pass his health examination- big problem with back legs, could barely walk and although some of it may have been caused by weight they could not really identify the cause and so consider him unadoptable. There were other health issues although some certainly were correctable but taken altogetrher they felt they could not put him up for adoption. So he has been sent over the Rainbow Bridge this afternoon.

It has been raining all day - supposed to let up tomorrow. Sure hope so, not good for Stampede attendance, probably would not be able to run the rodeo and the chucks.

I spent some time today with doctors, an annual check this morning and final visit with the heart people. The stress treadmill test showed some narrowing of one of the arteries of the heart and since my Cholesteral is a bit high they want me on medication and also - of course - more exercise and proper diet! I have been changing my diet anyway - because of the earlier pre-diabetic diagnosis and need to work on more weight loss. They will repeat the stress test in 1 year! Oh Joy!

Victoria Harbour, ON

How very sad Carol..know you wanted to adopt..didn't realize that they screen health issues so closely...drats and more drats...

Hard to change ones diet and routine, guess it takes a health issue to bring home just how important both are!

Hot and humid today, A/C repairman was at the office before I arrived at 8:45am..said main compressor for the office is gone, have to contact facility owners to determine if it has to go for repair or install new one, regardless, no air today..yikes, should have told the boss, perhaps we could have worked from home...I'll try anything right?

Jeff and Julie will be at the house tonight, trying to figure out supper..with Julie being a vegetarian not sure what to make...guess making a lovely salad would e the first thing that needs done..

Hope the rain stops in Calgary, what a shame to have rain on such an events..

Carol, sure was nice gabbing with you last night..enjoy your well deserved vacation...gab soon..

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

oh Carol - you have been having a time of it, haven't you? Sorry to hear about the sheltie. I'm positive you could have made his life comfortable and happy even with all the health issues. You're a loving, caring person and the Sheltie Rescue is better for your help.

More meds, eh? You go to Shapes, don't you? I know it's one of the exercise places.....
Take care, lady, you're one of the early angels we all know and love.

It looks like it's going to stop raining sometime today....

I am feeling better for having Complete Rest...... and because the rain has stopped for now, it's not Quite As Humid. We also got rid of our mister/humidifier in our bedroom so I'll bet that helped, too. Thank you for all your prayers - I'm not completely better and it will take time that I have, thanks to my vacation time.

Now, to get sloooowly back to doing things - 1st thing is to find stuff for camping next week, including our camping dishes, and heavy clothing for the nighttime.
It will be soooooo great to get out of the city. My DH suggests we take a tiny TV because we'll be gone for about a week. We'll be have a huge power plug-in because it is RV-capable in the campsite.

Hope everyone's having a great summer day doing what you love best.

Sorry ladies, been a busy week, my two brother in laws came down for the weekend. Been cleaning up a bit since they left.. I'm sleeping alot through the day, but not at night lol.. Just cant get comfy when baby is kicking me..

FINALLY got a new computer!!! Bought the cheapest one in the store, just so we wouldn't have to wait anymore.. It will do what i need it to, so i'm just fine with that..

No Baby yet.. Betty it better come out before the winter lol.. I'll be 38 weeks on saturday so really anytime now..

jen

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thought maybe he or she would be walking by now Jen..
Days must be long and uncomfortable...maybe tonight..my DH's birthday was July 18th..can you hang on that long? lol

Had a busy evening yesterday, Jeff and Julie arrived at 5:45pm..had to check to see if all their supplies with fit in the 2 kayak's..lots to bring when you go for 21 days..after doing the trial packing, Greg and Melanie dropped in and off we went in the boat..visited BIL (boss) Paul and then had a cruise on Georgian Bay, there wasn't a ripple and the breeze was so warm..lovely sunset..best of all was spending time with my family...

This morning Jeff and Julie left at the same time as I did ..tonight Greg will have to drive me to pick up Jeff's truck..needs to be stored for 3 weeks, maybe I should see what big things I need, i.e. picking boulders on the side of the road and get it done while I have wheels..lol

Muggy here, finally they got the new a/c installed and I can breath...

Off I go, might try to call to see if I can get a haircut tonight, if not, I'll make appt. for tomorrow afternoon..

Should we a great weekend, high temps, less humidity and no rain...

How are you all doing?

cullman, AL(Zone 7b)

Betty i know its been some time since I've been online... I can try for the 18th, thats not to far away.. My dad think it will be the 26th something about the moon?? Hes not into that stuff, but he said theres always something about the moon and laughed..

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Our mobile salesman is bringing a client to see our home today @ 5pm!
I've been busy polishing chrome lol
I also did something very silly - I ran the self-cleaning oven, and it blew white smoke throughout the whole house! The last owner used an oven cleaner on it!!!!!!!!!!
Lucky for me it was hours away to the viewing, the smoke lessens each time we use the feature, and I have plenty of Febreeze on hand LOL

cullman, AL(Zone 7b)

Tallulah hopefully you had some luck today.. Febreeze is always a life savor..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Saying a prayer here for you Susan, let's hope they ask 'where do I sign'....

Well, checked some of the programs the girls said they had added to my computer system..something just wasn't compatible..couldn't even access, sooo deleted so many things, hopefully nothing I need and I'm back up running..fantastic..doing happy dance...

Not sure why Jeff wouldn't go for this, asked if he could leave Julie home and take me with him, he said NO!

Did a test to make sure last night that all equipment fit..hard going but it did...they left this morning for their 21 day adventure...

Once that was behind us, off we went for a nice ride on Georgian Bay...warm breeze..

Was so nice coming home

Well, making spaghetti sauce as I'm in and out all weekend so thought just maybe having it in the refrigerator incase someone drops by might be a good idea..so best I don't do my usual and burn it...

hope you've enjoyed your day..

Great pics Betty .. I am hoping the trip goes well for them :-)

Jen .. if the babe is kicking up a storm, then (and I hate to say this) delivery time is a bit away .. these little ones tend to go kinda quiet a couple of days before they make their journey out an into the world ..

Been busy with the puppy and stuff in general .. was visitng my Hospice client in hospital .. and a patient in the next room heard my voice and laugh .. she came to the door with a mask on and said ' Marilynne, I would recognize your voice and laugh anywhere' .. I was STUMPED .. excused myself from my client and went to the door .. here it is one of Lorna's physiotherapists .. she was diagnosed with breast cancer in mid June .. has had surgery .. and is now receiving chemo .. she is YOUNG .. maybe 45 .. so .. we went to a quiet place to talk .. I am blown away !!
Will be keeping close ties with her ..

Good luck with your bronchitis and the sale of the house Susan

Weather was scary yesterday .. big BOOMERS and wind, but absolutely PERFECT today ^_^

Take care

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

How tragic for her "M"..will add her to my prayers...how's your hostice client doing???

Ooohh is Piper frightened of the booms..Sailor is staying very close to my side as the rumbling is happening...went outside and made sure all was secure...looks so pretty

siiiiiiiiiiigh - they want to look at more mobiles. Plus side - they loved what we did with the deck...... but that's not inside, and that's more important.......... double siiiiiiiigh......

Victoria Harbour, ON

Drats and more drats Susan...hope you are feeling better today..

Rained all last night, sunshine is peeking through the windows...gardens sure are enjoying the humidity and rain..just amazes me at the beautify..

running late, gab later..

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I am feeling better all the time, thank you Betty ^_^

A friend posted on FB a challenge to do more in the next 2 hours than we did the previous 2 - that's not hard, I was sleeping LOL
I've been out to my garden deadheading, and now going to the church to plant some spider plants at the base of a Hibiscus tree.

Hope that the weather in Waterton isn't as soggy as they predict - 40-60% of rain, from 1-5 mm each day......... would be difficult setting up and taking down...... let alone the day to day stuff!! We have a tarp to put up between the trees, if the tree spacing cooperates LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

think you'd best stay home Susan..you wouldn't want to create more problems for yourself health wise..am sure wet/damp conditions would help you ... always another weekend to camp out!

Jeff said that they no sooner got the tent up and ate that the rain came, left as quickly as it came and they had a wonderful evening...he as well is hoping no rain..think they are calling for sunshine for the next few days...

waiting to hear if boss calls and says go home at 1:00 ..if not, we still get off at 3:00 on Fridays, bonus time..need hair cut, few stops at the nursery..making more gardens this weekend and need shrubs to help fill in, might as well purchase them while they are on sale....

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

supposed to rain 15 mm here in Calgary...... 5mm at most in Waterton doesn't sound too bad lol

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

WHOOSHY WINDY day here .. even though our patio table umbrella is supposed to be one that will not pull a 'Mary Poppins' thing .. I put it down .. lots of fallen branches out back and on the west lawns too.

Betty .. when it thundered, I just held Piper and smiled and talked flippin baby talk to him about the 'big bad noises' .. he seemed quite fine with that, altho, everyone here thought I had lost my mind !! But .. he never flinched ..

My Hospice client is doing as well as he can .. he isn't as weak as he was, but, that can change in a heartbeat.

I am getting the BIGGEST kick from watching that HUGE plant "corpse plant" .. trying to bloom out in Houston .. Linda gave us the webcam site and I swear I must clickon and check 'Lois' as often as I can LoL

Supposed to be a warm and withery weekend here .. have lots to keep me busy ...

Enjoy everyone ^_^

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Slap me silly 'M', went to that link and couldn't figure it out..got to go back and check it out...am sure it's addictive..

Well if you've set Piper's nervousness to rest am sure as he matures the storms won't worry him...wish someone would have done that with Sailor..talk about a nervous doggy..

Do you often see the calm before the storm as they say with your hospice friends..looks as though they are improving but aren't?

Wind is up here, bought a new umbrella last month and don't think I opened it more than a few times, always worry it will do the Mary poppins thing as well..if you don't get the umbrella with a patio set, lordy, they are expensive...I bought a cover for my umbrella but you have to stand on a chair, on a table in order to put it on the umbrella, not a great idea, too easy to fall and injure myself..so uncovered it is...

Be roadrunning with a bunch of girls for the next 2 days, will try and drop in but don't know if I will have access where I am...

In the meantime, stay well, stay safe, stay dry!

No thunder here but fireworks in town tomorrow night and Abby does not like thunder and she does not like fireworks. She will run around and whine then try to crawl up on my lap. She weighs130lbs. Tomorrow night I will sit outside. I can see the fireworks from the house so maybe it I can get her to see them and she will understand the noises she is hearing better.
We have had a couple of really nice days of 28° with a nice breeze blowing. Beautiful summer days. Hope the weekend will be nice - The Granite Town Festival is going on this weekend (that's why the fireworks). Fair and parades and clowns and face painting, antique car show, bbq's and music and lots more.

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG 130 lbs. - yikes!

Your festival sounds lovely, hope weather co-operates for you..

Just having coffee waiting for the girls to pick me up..couldn't sleep, started to watch a movie at 1:20 and from that point on I was up and at it...

Enjoy your day!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

130 lbs!! What kind of a dog is she?

st.george, NB(Zone 5a)

Her father was a purebred Newfoundlander, her mother was just a mix of a lot of things - mostly shepherd of some sort. She is my baby. This is her and the cat curled up for the night. That is about as close as they get.

Continues to be sunny and pleasantly hot. High again today is 32C. Rain in the forecast on Wednesday. We can sure use it. My rain barrels are full of dust. :(

Really hot here - on the other side of the country as well. 36° on my deck still, though that is in the sun. First time in a long time no fog. Rain forecast here tomorrow and we sure can use it.

we had crazy rain today, even hail.. WOW did it ever reek havoc on my garden..

Well .. if meteorologists got paid by the validity of their reporting and accuracy, we'd have some poverty stricken folks out there !!!
We had rain forecasted for Friday .. got maybe 4 drops .. same for Saturday/Sunday .. today was to have been a 70% chance, where that will come from is anyones best guess .. it's already 23C (76F) ...

Have been run off my feet with Piper .. he sure is a going concern .. I should nap when he does, but, I always seem to have something to catch up on ..

Growum .. how did Abby make out with the fire works ? Hope she was OK ..

Betty .. how was your 'road running' weekend ^_^

Have a splendiferous week everyone

The fireworks started and out we went - seeing the bright lights in the sky made her worse. Don't know what I expected - her to sit and ooh and aah and think they were pretty?? Anyway when she went and hid in the greenhouse we came back in the house and she settled down then. What a baby!
Beautiful weather for the festival though - lots of people with sunburns today. No rain yet but they say it is coming. I'll believe it when I see it. Better water the garden tonight. Just home for lunch now - back to work I go. Hi ho hi ho.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I would suggest you try a calming coat for her. You could - to start with- just put a snug T-shirt or flannel pajama top on that would reach from her neck to her butt, It should be very snug around her body. They are actually available commercially ( although I dont think that is the right name) . Worth a try - I have heard good things about this method.

You will find some information here.
http://www.grassmere-animal-hospital.com/thunderstormphobia.htm

Scroll done to anxiety wrap and storm cape and there are links.

She is not being a baby. Often things like this are very disturbing for animals.
