My grandchildren found this one down by a pond. Any ideas? Thanks
Unidentified spider
This is a long-jawed orb weaver (family Tetragnathidae); likely in the genus Tetragnatha - see http://tinyurl.com/2fy2z4z for an example. These spiders often spin their webs horizontally over water, such as small ponds and streams, where they prey on small insects that either are emerging from the water, or are flying towards it.
