Question on a name

Arcata, CA(Zone 9b)

Is Suncrest a (scented Asiatic) as listed on page 31 of B&D Catalog or a LA which is listed in the plantfile? Any suggestion

I don't think that B&D uses the term LA. They call all LAs "Scented Asiatics". I guess they think that helps them sell better. So Suncrest is an LA.

I took a look at my old B&D catalogs... they started calling Suncrest a "Scented Asiatic" in 2008. Prior to that they called it an LA as did the Lily Garden when they carried it. Additionally, it is registered as an LA.

Thanks

has anybody ever gotten a whiff of scent off any of the LA's???????The only one that I ever found a scent from was the old hybrid Yellow Ace.

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

For the most part ~ NO! Though up close, Cecil smells like rose. A couple others have something of a scent but nothing I'd call fragrant.

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Very little, if any at all. I don't know why they often described as fragrant.

It is a ploy to sell them, or some breeders have very active imaginations, in their noses.

ID needed.
Is this Sunny Crown. I have had it in this spot for 3 years and planted Buggys asiatic mix in the area. Just want to keep them straight.

Looks like Sunny Crown to me Jo Ann.

I've never noted what I'd call fragrance in any of my LA hybrids either.

Thanks Neal. The three next to it must be Buggys, not yet in bloom.
