Nearest thing I found in my book was a Paper Wasp, but it didn't look exactly like one.

CLOSED: Is this a Paper Wasp?
This could be the common northern paper wasp, Polistes fuscatus - see http://tinyurl.com/327uxsm for an example. This species can exhibit a good deal of individual variation in appearance, if you Google images for that name, you will get some idea.
