So, I'm normally a daylily girl, but I've been expanding into the world of lilies. My question is, are there a lot of Asiatics that look very similar to each other?
I bought some bulbs from GH Wild a couple of years ago, and their "Baja" http://www.gilberthwild.com/Lily-Baja-Asiatic-3/productinfo/L-BAJA/ looks amazingly like the "Loreto" I got from this year's lily co op (see pic below). The same thing with Wild's "Marquee" vs. the co op's "Royal Sunset".
I know in daylilies it's often hard to ID plants because many can look extemely similar. Is this the case for bulb lilies, or is GH Wild just naming things as they please? Any info would be appreciated!
Lily look-a-likes?
There are many out there that are look-alikes, if not identical lilies. Some of the european mass-producers are notorious for renaming a lily and calling it 'new'.
Moby - is that the reason for Vise Versa vs. Vica Versa, Netty's Pride and Nettie's Pride, Dimention and Dimension, etc.?
In those cases that you've mentioned above, I'm inclined to think that it's more a case of a catalog / web designer who knows the name but not the spelling. Or is just a poor speller. Or a lazy speller. But then, not everyone is as anal about it as we are, right pirl? >;) OK, now I'm just being rotten and need to go to bed.
Dutch business practices. Rights to names bought and sold. Oriental lily Corvara = oriental lily Rio Negro. So on and so on.
