Not very big - perhaps just a young one
CLOSED: Grasshopper?
This is a nymph of a bush katydid (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae) in the genus Scudderia - see http://tinyurl.com/otgvzu for an example. These nymphs can be quite colorful when very young, becoming more evenly green as they go through successive molts.
