Found in my yard in Massachusetts. What is it?
CLOSED: Interesting Caterpillar
reminds me of some kind of tussock moth cat. the things on top might be eggs from a wasp or part of the insect, i don't know.
This appears to be another example of a larva of a white-marked tussock moth, Orgyia leucostigma (Lepidoptera: Erebidae; subfamily Lymantriinae) - see http://tinyurl.com/2ak5yqk for an image. (Troutlule submitted a similar image earlier today.)
Cool. Thanks!
neefman: even tho we're miles apart, the bugs are a poppin' no matter where we are! Cool that we saw the same larva at the same time! Great pic!
