CLOSED: Fly on Tomato

Riverside, CA(Zone 8a)

Can anyone ID this fly? This fly is about ⅛ inch long. When I shake my tomato plant a half dozen will fly off and back to the plant. My guess is they are leaf miner, but I might be wrong. These flys love tomatoes and are hard to see without a trained eye.

Thank you for the partial ID. I took the photo in late evening. Maybe I can take a better picture and start a new thread for a better identification here so that everyone will know what it is.

This is not a fly, but appears to be a true bug (Hemiptera; suborder Heteroptera); the image is not clear enough for a definitive identification. If you cannot submit a clearer photo, I suggest that you contact your county office of California's Cooperative Extension service for assistance in identification and any necessary control advice - see http://ceriverside.ucdavis.edu/
