Propagating Rosemary

Lake Charles, LA

Is Rosemary easy to propagate from cuttings?

Yes it is fairly easy.I have had the best luck in the spring. When the plant is putting out new growth. The old stems are woody and more difficult to root.I still think its better and faster than growing from seed.Edge

I put cut stems in water and they form thick roots in about a month. The roots aren't thin and stringy like some other plants.

I root these in a glass of water too. Easy! The cuttings put in soil all died. Water is definitely the way to go.

Yea, at least one of my Rosemary is starting to form roots. It's been less than 2 weeks.

I'm no expert on propagating anything, but I've had good luck with trimming a few inches off my rosemary and just sticking them in dirt. They sit there for a long time and then they grow.
