mobile computer question..

Hey folks...does anyone know how these folks who have lap-top computers and travel with them are able to access the Internet? It seems to me unless you want to pay an awful lot of long-distance phone charges you have to stay at home to get on the Net. Is there some way around this? (Have been thinking of getting a lap-top for if and when I am able to take a short trip.) If anyone can help I'll send you my first born... (chicken, rabbit, duck, goose, you pick!)

You can use a cell phone hooked to the laptop. Works great. My DH had a co-worker that went on a bowhunting trip DH could go as one of them had to stay at work. His co-worker took his laptop and cellphone with him into his tree stand. He would send hubby 30 min e-mail updates from the tree stand telling him what was going on. He even used a drawing program to show him the layout around the tree stand. When deer would come in he drew it on the map. When he finally shot one he drew a map of that too. Drove my husband crazy! Talk about rubbing salt into a wound.
Horseshoe I will take your first born cow. Since I don't have a calf nursery could you please feed it lots of good grain for about a year and then send it to me in pieces. You know pieces of porterhouse, t-bone, prime rib, hamburg...

Lord-a-mercy-meeee...what in tarnation have I done got m'self into here!...I'm totally in bigtime debt now! I'm gonna be so poor I reckon I gotta start thieving worms away from robins just to get a bite to eat. Cain't remember being so much in debt b4...er, wait...yes I can. Why it was back in, hmmm, back in 19 ought 7 it was...yep. Me and Bernie Barnaby and his 3-legged coondog (Tripod) was out rabbit huntin'. After 4 days in the woods we hadn't seen a thang! We's all hongry, tired, and stinkin'. Bernie blamed it on his "lucky" rabbit-foot keychain he recently bought over at Porkchop's 'House of Pigmeat Cafe' located down by the hard road. (He said it was on the counter where you pay your tab and it was marked down half price. Bernie is a smart man. It finally dawned on him it was only half price cuz it musta got dropped on the floor too many times and knocked the luck outta it. I'm smart too, so I agreed.) Anyway, that nite I snuck up to Bernie and lifted that unlucky rabbit foot keychain, skint it, and by morning I had it boiling in a pot of creek water with some juniper berries, poke salad, and a piece of fatback we used to rub on the shotgun to keep it from rustin'. Lordy me, I can sit here and just smell that stew cooking right now! (But wait a minute, I undress, I mean DIGRESS...I get those two words mixed up sometimes...it's a mess...you should see me gettin' ready for bed at nite. tsk tsk tsk what a site) Anyway, thank ya'll both for the input! Lisa, I gave each critter a map to your house so I reckon they'll find their way there soon. Sari, it sounds like your DH's friend mighta been laughing so loud about what he was doing I'm surprised he even got a deer! What a great story! Hadn't heard one of your stories in a while, I was wondering if you lost your story tellin' ways...About the map, you don't need to send your critters with one, they'll find it all by themselves!
