I have Viper's buglos (echium vulgare) growing on a steep hill. It's gradually working it's way to the bottom. I want to cut stalks that have viable seed and lay them at the top of the hill. (This kind of thing has worked for me with other plants, like lupine.) How do I know when a stalk has viable seed? I see that the stalklets begin to turn brown, and there are fewer blue flowerets on the tip, but I can't identify the actual seeds.
TIA

How to identify echium seeds?
