Dany's MGs 2010 part 1

szarvas, Hungary

Probably a hybrid. I love it because it is in shades of blue - not a gram of purple!

This year everything is late - it is a rainy year.

Here I keep 5 lines of 60/70 cultivars. I have not ripped all volunteers of Mirabilis Jalapa (4 o 'clock) and more every two feet there are sunflowers.

Making its assessment on a first flower is very difficult!

Here are two cultivars that are promising.

Everyone knows that Ipomoea batatas "Blackie" is blooming. Last year I was shown that he produce seeds.
And this year, ladies and gentlemen, I find an volunteer !!!!!!

Some great blooms Dany .Becky's Mauve Splash is gorgeous and
does look very much like a Mauve Sazanami. Looks like a cross to me.

Love your Fancy Purpurea, looks like the center of Joyce
Cobb or Rebecca with the large eye area.

Gautier, MS

You have some awesome blooms Dany. Really awesome, I agree with Jackie about Mauve Sazanami!

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Dany,

Super Great Parade of JMGs and what a rare Purpurea with 10-Rays. I hope you tagged that bloom to see what those particular seeds will produce when grown out.

Also Great show on Dany's Asagao Plantation in Hungary

Dany - Your set-up looks grand again this year! What do you do with all the seeds you collect from all those vines? I know you must have had a ton of seeds last year! LOL!

Your I. purpurea with the double petals and reproductive parts is really cool! I wonder what causes that to happen? Makes the bloom look almost like an I. nil with the extra rays to make it a larger bloom!

I like the Mauve Splash bloom. VERY unusual!!! I will be interested to see the future blooms to see if they change into something more. You know me ... I love crossing blooms! I like surprises and MGs never fail to delight me when I cross them. This year Blue Speckles and Sidare pollen got used a lot on my current MGs. ;-) Should be interesting next year to see what those seeds produce!

I can't wait to see your Black King crosses! Looks like all your vines are coming along and will be blooming in no time! I look forward to seeing more in the coming weeks and months. :-)

szarvas, Hungary

Here is Q 1044

I wanted to send a complaint! LOL
But here is the second flower - an interesting contrast between very dark purple flower and yellow foliage . In fact, his reference number is 1044-0001

I received 2 bags and hope to also have the number 1044-0000.

And his flower : Drizzling Blue.

Thumbnail by dany12

Not to be confused with the purpurea "bar code" : shibori .... etc

szarvas, Hungary

There are also two new purpurea white ,one simple and another double.
They have a very trilobed leaves and what is rare clear green foliage.Flowers looks like pale yellow.

Purpurea generally has a very dark green foliage.

Dany - Your newest photos are most interesting! The bi-color leaves in the one photo are the strangest shape I've ever seen on a MG vine! What are the blooms supposed to look like ... the Drizzling Blue photo?

And I have to tell you ... I about fell out of my chair when I saw your unique I. purpurea with the unusual foliage and almost yellow bloom. It doesn't even look like a purpurea at first glance! Way cool!!! You do know how to pick some rare and unique seeds/vines! Keep those photos coming! It's always an adventure to see what you are growing each year! :-)

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Dany, you are amazing in what you are doing. Thank you for showing us. It is always an adventure to come and visit your posts.

szarvas, Hungary

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Oh Dany, that is beautiful!

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Dany - That pale yellow purpurea is pretty impressive. I've never seen even a hint of yellow on any purpureas I've grown. How do they get that yellow color? THAT is the question! And an even bigger question ... how to make it a deeper and darker yellow? THAT is the challenge to aspire to create!

I really loved the pale yellow I. nil vine from you this year. It is a beauty! To see this yellow purpurea just blows my mind! Way cool! Hoping you will get seeds for trading from this one and all your stunning vines. :-)

East Bridgewater, MA

Gorgeous! Love the color block.

Your hard work is paying off !!!

szarvas, Hungary

Rainy morning, yet!
No beautiful flowers but beautiful leaves.
Here dragonfly leaf variegated.

Or this one.

Dany - Unusual leaves. The nose leaf one might produce solid pink blooms. I had one that looked very similar and that's the blooms it produced. I love the variegation in the last one. What is the name?

szarvas, Hungary

Me and the names!
I think we should wait the first flowers.
I try to buy this on Yahoo Japan.
