I was wondering if anyone could tell me what these two pictures are. This first one is from my indoor garden, and I have seen several of them. I am worried about them spreading.
Bug ID (one insect and one spider)
The bug is a twolined spittlebug, Prosapia bicincta (Hemiptera/Heteroptera: Cercopidae) - see http://tinyurl.com/26s8dbg - and the spider is a wolf spider (family Lycosidae); large specimens can deliver a painful (but not dangerous) bite if handled carelessly.
I was bitten by a wolf spider while I was sleeping last winter. I kept wondering why I was itching so bad on my back until I found the spiders 2 detached legs in my bed. I am certainly glad I wasn't awake to actually feel the bite. The itching persisted for about 3 days and then went away.

When you find out let me know. I found these sucking the life out of the new growth of my young redbuds in central Illinois!!! Come in and munch in multitudes!
