Is this strange? or normal

Doesn't a flower fall off and the ovary produces the seed? On this flower, the stigma has produced the seed. The plant is an Euphorbia viguieri

and I've been watching for seeds for 3 years now. If anyone has some info I would greatly appreciate it.

Wormfood, The stigma did not produce the seed. Only the ovary can produce/contain the seed. In this plant and many others, the ovary is "superior" which means it is attached to the receptacle above the other flower parts. Here is a link that shows a diagram and more of a discussion of ovary attachment in different plants.

Some other examples of Superior: Peaches, Plums, Cherries (blossom was around where the stem is). Inferior: Apples, Pears (blossom was the indentation opposite the stem).
