CLOSED: What is this crazy looking bug?

Fort Myers, FL

This scary fly/dragonfly/giant mosquito looking thing was on a piece of flypaper today, eating one of the dead flies. It's about 2" long, has a pointed, piercing "beak" and eyes like a fly.. he then got himself stuck to another piece of flypaper, and I managed to pull him off of it, but not without destroying one of his wings, so unfortunately, he's still going to die. I'm just wondering what it is, whether it's aggressive, can bite/sting, etc. Thanks!

Sorry the pic is blurry... I'm using a cheap camera. If I need to upload another one, let me know. Thanks!

That is one of the Robber Flies, in the family Asilidae. They are aggressive predators of other insects.
I don't think it is possible to get to an exact species from your photo, but here is a similar one: http://bugguide.net/node/view/66985/bgpage
