I got up and went this am...put on the crock pot and hit the street where my hardy, naturalized plants are. Even they need tending to and water. I sat on my new bench, pooped. It was 96 with a feels like of 101! I wanted to yell like the wicked witch in Oz, I'm meeeeelting!!!
welcoming fellow texans
I know how you feel, we went to the Fielder house native plant butterfly garden, as we do every Monday.
The garden is on a hill and has very sandy soil, so the water drains and evaporates almost as soon as you apply it.
We spent 4 hours hand watering deeply in hopes that it would last a day or two.
Sweat pouring down our faces running into our eyes, body soaked with sweat, but we go on because we love the plants and we love the butterflies, and the garden looks beautiful.
Oh Praise the Lord!! we are getting a wonderful shower right now!!
I hope all of you are getting some rain too.
Josephine.
Winding down here but at least it rained good for a little while.

Good for you Slyguy!
Yea for our rain Josephine! It's making us and the gardens happy. Btw, the three Pipevines I had left have tried a couple times to pupate, like you said it seems to take forever!. They are fat and big enough so I am not feeding but one leaf at a time to encourage them.
That is right Sheila, they don't want to give up eating, those piggies.
They beautiful, but very peculiar butterflies, even their flight is restless and erratic.
It's nice not to turn on the hose for a day or two. Raining tonight here and everything is soaked.
C
Yea, newtons, I'm glad y'all got some too!
It came down hard here this evening, very surprising but very good.
We had the after dark deluge also. I was hoping to mow this morning but looks like that will wait. Don't know how we got so far off of the topic "welcoming fellow texans" but it has been enjoyable. LOL!
Rain and welcome fit everywhere!
