Insect that I thought at first was a Boxelder Bug but markings are so different, body length is about 1.5cm. Would appreciate ID. If it helps I am located in SW France.
CLOSED: Bug ? similar to Boxelder Bug but markings differ greatly
It is an assassin bug. a good guy predator. I'm thinking genus Ryhnocoris, but not being familiar with French insects, I'm not comfortable with species.

It can deliver a painful bite, although it isn't poisonous. Those red things curved under the tip of its head are the 'fangs.'
melody, very many thanks for that information, much appreciated.
You're quite welcome!
