CLOSED: Mysterious bees in my kitchen

Madison, AL

I hope someone can help me with this mystery about bees. We have been away for over a week on vacation. On returning last FridayI found about a dozen bees dead on my kitchen floor in a group and a few others dead scattered around the house. The only thing I can think of as to how they got in (and apparently died from no food or water and the heat in the house) was that the morning I left I brought into the house a potted soft touch holly gotten from Lowes that day. I put the pot down in a larger pot with an inch of water so that it would not dry out and die while I was away. The picture I took is a bit fuzzy, but they remind me of miner bees. Could they have been in the pot and waited until we left to come out - maybe hatched out? I put this question on the beekeeping forum, but have not had any responses. Maybe some else will have an idea as to why and where these bees appeared in my kitchen. Thanks.

Do you have a closer shot? I don't think we've got enough detail from this distance.

No, for some reason my camera decided not to do a decent closeup. If this is just too bad for anyone to see, okay. Just close it and don't bother any more. I was just curious if it is likely for a bunch of bees to hatch out of a pot and I don't see where else they could have come from.

That does sound likely as you're not seeing any new ones. They could be something from wherever the plant was grown and might not even be native to your area.
