I found what I think is an assassin bug in my roses but I can't seem to figure out which and if it is for sure. It's not an adult and that's all I can seem to find pics of.
CLOSED: Going cross-eyed
It is either an assassin bug or a leaf footed bug. The rear legs do not seem to have any evidence of the characteristic 'leaves' so I'll go with the good guy.
Here are some images of nymphs: http://www.google.com/images?oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&q=assassin+bug+nymph&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=univ&ei=ioQWTJyyLcX_lgey-_SEDg&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CCYQsAQwAA
Well...try this guy...nymph of a bush katydid (Orthoptera Tettigoniidae)

I'm hoping it's wrong. I saw 3 of these. Would the katydids be eating the roses?
They are foliage eaters just like their grasshopper cousins, but generally not present in enough numbers to do much substantial damage.
Hmmm...I have to go back and see if they're still there. I didn't notice any munching.
