Hi I am looking for a true yellow oleander. It is very yellow not light almost white. I have 2 friend who remember seeing them years ago. I', also looking for some other doubles. I hope that we will be able to drive to northern Texas and find a nice nursery too to pick up a few new doubles that I don't have.

ahhh.. I was wondering.. I have a good friend in Cave creek myself
I have been looking but have not found it. I have relatives in Texas. I will put out a Hello, anyone know where to get a double or single really yellow oleander. I was on the trail last year but it was a scam.
Hmmmm....I don't know.....I think that is more yellow than white JMHO (smile)
:o)
:o) Whatever it is I really truly love it.
Hi ilovejesus99,
is yours fragrant?
It is very fragrant. I am not sure I would call the smell baby powder but I like the smell and it is not an overpowering fragrance.
do you recall the name of the variety?
Hi ilovejesus99,
I had smelled the mrs. roeding and my nose does not seem to pick up it's fragrance. But in India, there was a oleander similar to your picture with double yellow tinge and it was very fragrant. I can't seem to find it anywhere here.
Hi WillisTxGarden,
May I ask where you got the sunshine from? I think that is the one I grew up with in India.
lovetropics when I get back on my feet maybe we could do a trade for some cuttings. They root in water for me and I have some cuttings I placed in water over a week ago. I would love to collect all the doubles.
Cuttings were given to me from an acquaintance here in Texas
i have splendens--it is called talcum powder or so-- I bought mine from Logee's. I also have variegated version of the doubl pink with same fragrance too. bought it locally.
I love doubles too. It's my new plant. I had to give up trying to grow plumeria. It would just get too cold here were we live. Too much work dragging them in the house in the winter. I had to worry every time we went away and they would still die.
My oleander flower non stop and I just have to put them under the eves up against the house. I have my favorite ones in pots and a 600 foot hedge of them in the ground. I have a beautiful double white but no name. I bought a red but it turned out to be a single.
Some I car root in almost a week but others are taking much longer. Once they get a good root system I put them into a one gallon pot outside in the shade to get use to being out side.
I bought 3 from Almost Eden and I was surprised how small they were but they have really grown. I'm waiting for Apple Blossom to open next.
I have tons of Mrs.George Roeding if anyone wants to trade.

Were does your friend live in Cave Creek? It the town proper or a subdivision?
she lives out of town proper on some acreage.I used to ride up to the Hideaway to meet her .. we are both motorcyclists. I used to live in Apache Junction myself and had a hedge of oleander that was about 100 feet long. that separated my property from my neighbors.. it grew like wildfire...
i love my pink and red oleanders--i grew one huge one from the branch of the other--i will watch for the yellow--very pretty and unusual
i always thought i would make a wall of oleanders too but never quite got around to it
Here is my double yellow.I have only had it for a year but found it bloomed for a shorter duration compared to some of the others such as the old double white, nevertheless it is a true beauty and makes up for this with it's gorgeous blooms. It has the same strong fragrance though as the double white.
WTG,do your two yellows set seed?
that is just beautiful! love the flowers!!
Logees is a place I did not need to know about. Now I am really going to be needing Gardeners Anonymous..
I never never never want to be cured.....lol
Brical1 - well my plants are only a year old ....cuttings from last year .... they haven't produced seed pods so far
My picture was of the donor's flowers
ok-remind me again---if i want to start a new oleander i start with new wood (green branch) or old wood?
Actually....I've started them from both old & new wood - don't let the soil dry out.....they seem to do better with it moist.....you can start in water as well....in fact,...I've heard that the red colors seem to take root in water better than soil.
my single red pops up in the garden from seed. Rest of them--I thought it is the time of the year. This time of the year(90-100degree temps in AZ), they root very fast in water--young green stems. Older stems are used if you root them in fall or so.
thank you all for your help
love tropics--shouldn't scottsdale be lovecactus?
but i do have a question since you love tropics--i have a garden i am calling my tropical garden (i have lots of little gardents) and so far i have a palm tree, 2 brugs and some elephant ears--what would be a nice tropical addition to this area that gets sun and that i give more water to --
Hi planolinda,
if I accept my surroundings then there is no challenge in gardening! :)
I grew up in India but ended up in scottsdale for work related reasons.
You have several options depending on the look you want. If you have brugs, I am assuming it is not too sunny like az sun. Consider cannas(come in variegated colors too) and hibiscus. Look at this large crinum which can handle az sun( I need to have this ID'd but has wonderful fragrance)
i have cannas in another area of the yard--although i would like to try the variegated and other colors-
i am starting some hibiscus plants in my window sill now--they are from my daughters houseplant so might not work outdoors
tell me about your crinum--is it from a bulb? perennial? very pretty!
ok-i need to go and look up crinums on the plant info page--and find out more about these
ok--checked them out and they seem to be lillies--am i right? very pretty and seem to be hardy, bloom all season and come back --i will try them

Hi planolinda,
that crinum I found as a seed while walking on a beach a few years ago. It was big and looked like a bulb to me(in hindsight it was a seed). I placed it on soil and it grew and grew. This is the first year it has bloomed and it is fragrant. It is a perennial in my zone and surprisingly does not seem to mind our az sun.
How many yrs do you think it took from seed to bloom? I love Crinums.
I am guessing about 4 years. I had posted a picture of the seed a few years ago but can't seem to find my own thread. sorry.
