Not sure, but here in Michigan we call them wolf spiders

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Yes, I think it is a wolf spider as well. They are non-poisonous, but can deliver a bite if mis-handled.

pretty sure its a wolf spider

Sinks Grove, WV

This looks more like a funnel web spider (family Agelenidae) in the genus Tegenaria - see http://tinyurl.com/ltpwc6 for an example (note: the scale is in centimeters, not inches!). They frequently are found indoors, where they may wander away from their webs (males seem more prone to this). As with wolf spiders, large specimens are capable of inflicting a painful but not dangerous bite. The bite of one species, Tegenaria agrestis (sometimes called the hobo spider) has been implicated in slow-healing necrotic lesions, but the evidence for this does not appear entirely clear-cut.
