I have several pits doing the toothpick in the water routine. Many are sending down a thick single root, question is..about how long before the leaves arrive...and is it on the top or side leaf shoots to look for.
Thanks for any help.
rooting avocados..when does the top start?
At this stage I've put mine in a good potting soil, keep moist but not wet and in a few weeks you will see some top growth starting.
I started two in the house in warter. They established a trunk and leaves. I transplanted but could not keep wet enough. Transplanted to larger pot and plant still was not happy. I had two come up in my holding garden compost pile, which is moved around continuously. I spot compost. I transplanted the one that was in the house to where the two were growing outside. It is now very happy and putting on a bunch of new leaves. One has been in the garden for over a year, made it through the winter and is now dropping old leaves and putting on bright new shiny leaves. They are in muted sunshine and protected from the wind. I am thinking about transplanting one into a very large pot but I am going to do a little more research. I have been told we will not get avocados but I do not care. I just like to grow whatever I can that is a challenge. Have a great day everyone.
Thanks, will follow up and have a avacodo plantation!!
