Vitex - have you seen this?

My Vitex is doing great except for one branch. I googled with no success.

Has anyone seen this before?

Have you looked down toward the base of that branch to see if it's been chewed, broken, damaged, etc in some way?

whatever it is, I would cut it off as soon as I could, and get rid of it, not compost. I would cut out anyting on it that looks like that, and be sure to clean your pruners with bleach or rubbing alcohol between cuts and afterward.

Thanks Frilly - After taking the photo I did cut the branch off flush with the trunk. I did NOT think to sanitize the cutters. Will do.

That branch looked so weird. Not a spot or blemish on the Vitex anywhere except for that one branch. Go figure.

Yep, important to clean, but only use alcohol or lysol, not bleach - the chlorine in the bleach will damage the blades.
