Okay - fessup time! How do you drive?? Be honest!
Are you generally aggressive or defensive? (Defensive. Used to be more aggressive.)
Do you speed? (Yes, but rarely above 70. Don't feel as in control at higher speeds.)
Do you drive slower with kids in the car? (Yes.)
Do you tailgate? (Never.)
Change lanes often? (No.)
What do you do if you're cut off by someone - ignore it, return the favor, give them a gesture? (In the past I would make it my business to catch up and give them a stare, a head shake or the finger. I'm a bit more reserved now - will just yell and, if the person is looking at the rear-view, give them some gesture.)
Drive slower in rain/snow? (Yes. Can't believe so many do not!)
Come to a complete stop at stop signs? (95% of the time.)
Always signal turns? (Yes.)
Play the radio? (Always.)
Talk on the cell without hands-free? (Never.)
Read, text, eat, put on makeup, have 'relations', or all at the same time??? (Not yet.)
Anything else??
Whaddya say 3 - Driving Habits
Funny Victor!
I used to speed and get a little aggressive, but since my last speeding ticket from 2 years ago, have really slowed down to only 10 miles over the limit, but catch myself faster sometimes and slow back down.
Many crazy drivers out, especially on the ride home from work.
I don't talk or text (5 young girls died here after texting and driving in front of a rig)
I try to stay back from the car in front and also the car in the next lane, definitely drive slower in rain and snow.
I laugh at the people that sped in front of me only to pull up beside them at the next light.
I don't change lanes too often and stay in the right lane more now, used to be in the fast lane all the time.
I try not to glare or gesture at idiots, but still do on occasion.
I listen to the radio, but not as loudly as I once did.
I don't signal turns if no one is there to see it, and on the streets where there isn't usually a car coming, don't make a complete stop.
Now had you asked this a couple years ago, I would have responded differently!
Defensive very aware of what is going on around me, try to anticipate moves and adjust early enough.
speed - usually, but not over 5 mph over limit. depends on road and weather conditions.
kids - slower
tailgate - never
change lanes often - no I hate it when people weave
rain/snow - slower
complete stop - mostly
signal turns - always
radio/cds - sometimes
cut-off ignore it, life's too short - but I am always 'talking' to drivers - a lot of drivers need to go to training school. Not much courtesy out there.
cell phone - never I have to pull over and stop to talk.
activities while driving - sometimes a coffee or soda or a sandwich if it's a long trip. nothing else.
Drive defensively...never take my eyes off the road....hard for me to ride with son, whose gaze wanders! Do about 5 miles over the limit...in CT it seems everyone else is 15 over the limit. Change lanes only to pass....always signal, even if no cars are around....rolling stops sometimes if it's a 4-way, & no one else is around......speak very harshly to other drivers...OK, cuss at times. I try not to tailgate, but if someone is driving 35 in a 50 mile zone & there's no passing, I may be closer than I ought to be....listen to NPR, unless the violins get on my nerves.....have been known to sip a latte, but only while waiting for a light to change. No cell phone, against the law here....I've pulled over once or twice, but only if I thought it was the doctor calling.
Are you generally aggressive or defensive - Agressive, especially when punks are weaving in and out. I will do everything to trap them inbetween cars.
Do you speed - Ocassionally and depends where I am going. If I am driving from NH to FL - No -one passes me, I mean NO one.
Do you tailgate - No
Change lanes often - depends where I am and what is happening- like punks weaving.
What do you do if you're cut off by someone - I try to trap them where they cant go forward, with another car or lane change.
Drive slower in rain/snow - yes, might not even leave the house for days.
Come to a complete stop at stop signs - most but other times is called a Florida Roll.
Always signal turns - Yes
Play the radio - If its on yes, If I am on a "Mission" then it might or might not get put on.
Talk on the cell without hands-free - Dont own a cell and possibly Wont!
Read, text, eat, put on makeup, have 'relations', - possibly eat something
Anything else??
Tailgaters - Have WD-40 on hand and spray it. That way the will get off your ass as they wont be able to see out the Front Windshield! If its a hot day toss an egg.
I don't drive--hate to see weavers.
Okay - fessup time! How do you drive?? Be honest!
aggressive or defensive? (Definitely Defensive. I tend to anticipate anything that could go wrong and try to be ready for it.)
Do you speed? (Sometimes. Usually try to stay within 5 miles of speed limit. I find that I drive faster when the roads are congested (but not necessarily slowed) by traffic. Probably because I stay in the left lane to avoid merging traffic and feel compelled to keep up with the flow. If the traffic is light, I stay in the right lane and stay reasonably close to speed limit.
Do you drive slower with kids in the car? (Yes - actually if I have ANY passengers, I drive with much more care than when I'm alone. I tend to be a nervous passenger so I try to be very mindful of the comfort of my passengers when I drive)
Do you tailgate? (Seldom. Hate tailgaters, but I'm guilty of occasionally being a hypocrite there - if a very slow driver is in the passing lane and won't pull over.)
Change lanes often? (No - I try to stay in the lane that I will eventually need but I will pass if someone can't keep a consistent speed - hate that.)
What do you do if you're cut off by someone - ignore it, return the favor, give them a gesture? (I usually ignore it. I try to abide by one rule. If I have time to give the person a gesture, honk or any other reaction then they really didn't cut me off. If I had time to honk, I had time to slow down.)
Drive slower in rain/snow? (Absolutely)
Come to a complete stop at stop signs? (Most of the time - 4 ways stops sometimes not.)
Always signal turns? (Only if there are others around)
Play the radio? (I go through phases - sometimes I'll go long periods without any radio/music)
Talk on the cell without hands-free? (Don't have hands free. I will talk on the phone when in the car, but it doesn't happen often.)
Read, text, eat, put on makeup, have 'relations', or all at the same time??? (Have relations??? I have read or texted on occasion but I've become much more cautious about that lately and 99% of the time will ignore my phone while I'm driving. What about shaving, Victor. Don't pick on just the ladies :)
Anything else??
I have had one ticket in my life and 0 accidents :)
- defensive
- 65-70mph
- N/A
-No
-No
- Ignore it
- drive slower in snow, not so much in rain
-Complete stop if I don't know the area, if I do then it depends on traffic.
-Yes, always signal
- News radio sometimes, never music, (too distracting).
- what's hands free?
- Text at red light, (sometimes).
Some funny posts. Stay away from Sherrie!
I am the same, Christina - would rather speed a bit in the left than guess what the people entering in the right are going to do. The 'relations' refers to a recent survey that showed a real high % of people who said they have had s** while driving. Haven't done that one yet. And no - have never shaved.
WD-40!! ^_^
No kidding? I must not be very imaginative. I can't even figure out how that would be possible! But that's okay - no need to enlighten me :)
Are you generally aggressive or defensive? (Definitely defensive
Do you speed? (Sometimes, depends on the road and where I am going.
Do you drive slower with kids in the car? (Yes.
Do you tailgate? (No.
Change lanes often? (Not to much.
What do you do if you're cut off by someone - (Usually just ignore it...maybe their kid is in surgery...
Drive slower in rain/snow? (Yes, even with 4 wheel drive I try not to go out in the snow.
Come to a complete stop at stop signs? (Yes unless I know there are no other cars.
Always signal turns? (Yes, it drives me crazy that some don't.
Play the radio? (Sometimes.
Talk on the cell without hands-free? (No.
Read, text, eat, put on makeup, have 'relations', or all at the same time??? (Read~yes at red lights, text~no, eat~yes, makeup~no, relations~ too old for that now!
Are you generally aggressive or defensive? I guess defensive.
Do you speed? No more than 5 miles over, unless on the NJ Turnpike, if you're not speeding they are going to run your butt over.
Do you drive slower with kids in the car? No
Do you tailgate? Never, ugh and I hate that especially when your doing the speedlimit or even over and someone is riding your tail like what happened yesterday near my son't school it's 25, guy riding my butt and then passes me on the shoulder, of course there's never a cop around to see something like that.
Change lanes often? No
What do you do if you're cut off by someone - ignore it, return the favor, give them a gesture? It depends on if I have to slam on my brakes, then I'll lay on the horn, but other than that I'll ignore it
Drive slower in rain/snow? Yes.
Come to a complete stop at stop signs? most of the time, sometimes not when I'm in the middle of a farmland and there is NO ONE around
Always signal turns? Yes
Play the radio? Always
Talk on the cell without hands-free? I have but not a long conversation, I've never called someone while driving
Read, text, eat, put on makeup, have 'relations', or all at the same time??? Never read(except directions), eat(snuck french fries) put on makeup(only at red lights), never had relations, I've taken panyhose off, though, while driving
Wow - was the long conversation during the pantyhose removal, Jen??? ^_^
Ha ha, Ronnie! Never too old.
ha ha
Okay - fessup time! How do you drive?? Be honest!

Always signal turns? (Yes.)
Play the radio? (radio and iPod & iPhone.)
Talk on the cell without hands-free? (Never.) I have hands free in both cars.
Read, text, eat, put on makeup, have 'relations', or all at the same time??? (the occasional lipstick.)
I do speed on the open road. I have bright red 2002 BMW M3 and it does amuse the police to see a 65 yr old lady tooling around in a car like that. I've gotten very few tickets.
Do you tailgate? Never. I value mine and other's safety.
Drive slower in rain/snow? Yes
What do you do if you're cut off by someone. Usually ignore it. I race my other car and don't feel like I have to prove anything to a 25 year old guy. Sometime I must admit I have shot them the finger. Very effictive if you look sweet and ladylike.
I have one confession to make -- every once and a while I have been known to accellate very quickly away from a stop light. ( after all my M3 is 0-60 in 4.8 sec. )
Anything else??
Wow...good for you! A red car always makes me sit up & notice! I see by reading the posts that we're all good drivers....where do the bad ones come from...guess they're not gardeners!
Okay - fessup time! How do you drive?? Be honest!
Are you generally aggressive or defensive? (Aggressive although not as much as i was when younger.)
Do you speed? (Yes, but rarely above 70. several years ago i was on the autoban alone in germany and did 125 trying to keep up with a mercedes with 4 guys in it - don't know how they drive that fast finally backed off to 100 and let the blood back into my knuckles.)
Do you drive slower with kids in the car? (drive the same)
Do you tailgate? (No - however i someone is tailgating me i've been known to slow, , use hand signals, stop, or even get out of the car to discuss the situation.)
Change lanes often? (No.)
What do you do if you're cut off by someone - ignore it, return the favor, give them a gesture? (This still bothers me and i do what ever i can to return the favor or block them behind a slower car and drive next to them smiling)
Drive slower in rain/snow? (snow yes - depends on how much rain)
Come to a complete stop at stop signs? (only at major intersections, otherwise a rolling stop)
Always signal turns? (Yes.)
Play the radio? (Always.)
Talk on the cell without hands-free? (infrquently.)
Read, text, eat, put on makeup, have 'relations', or all at the same time??? (no, no, yes, does visine count?, plead the 5th, no )
70 on the interstate, little above limits in town.
Very defensive driver. Try to anticipate. and stay aware of surroundings.
No different with kids.
Don't tailgate. Don't change lanes unless passing.
If someone cuts me off they get an ear full of explicitives plus the usual gesture and or horn.
Drive slow in snow; no difference in rain unless its a downpour. Always have lights on.
What's a stop sign? Are they triangular?
Always use signals.
Radio is always on (usually classical).
I pull over to talk on cell phone and I don't text at all!!!
I do eat and drink while driving and load a pipe and light it!!!
As far as the sex thing goes I just remember the movie "The World According to Garp" (nuf said).
Hee hee. Yes, that could have been 'gulp' instead.
Oh my!!!!
That movie was before we ever heard of the Bobbits!
The car was parked!
OK....just changed my opinion of gardeners' driving habits!
Are you generally aggressive or defensive?
Both, depends where I am. In the city if your not aggressive, you'll be at the rotary intersection for 40 minutes!
Do you speed? Sometimes....depends on where im going and if my antenee's are twitching. lol
Do you drive slower with kids in the car? Always
Do you tailgate? No
Change lanes often? Not often, as needed on the highway.
Depends on my mood, most of the time ignore them.
Drive slower in rain/snow? Yes, hate to drive in the snow period and will not drive at night if it's raining.
Come to a complete stop at stop signs? Yes, most of the time. ^_^
Always signal turns? Yes
Play the radio? Yes, almost always but have to becareful of some songs....my foot seems to press down harder on the accelerator on certain ones. LOL
Talk on the cell without hands-free? NO! Hate it, will uaually ignore the phone until I can pull over.
Read, text, eat, put on makeup, have 'relations', or all at the same time??? NO WAY!! Although DH & I know a couple who had relations while driving down the interstate once. It was more than I neeeded to know!! :(
Anything else?? Had to learn not to slam on the breaks for every dang animal that crossed my path........18-wheelers and logging trucks don't stop, they'll run you over!
Good point about the animals.
Me too with the music!
Never had a speeding ticket. Was pulled over once, but my BIL's badge got me off.
Not enough....he's at Sing-Sing remember??
Thats the best BIL could do considering the charges :0
I must admit that I caught myself going 20mph over the limit this morning, but I slowed back down.
Whoa! My Odyssey is very smooth and quiet, so I have to be aware of the speed.
We had heavy rain and wind on the way to work this morning. On the highway, I was a good reasonable distance from the car in front of me, and dread the bridge that was coming up in rain or snow.
The spray from the car passing through water in front of me sprayed up and out over the guard rails. It looked like spraying a hose. Since I was far enough back from that car, I knew to slow down a little and be prepared. Of course it still throws you to to hit that water on an incline.
The idiot tailgating me was suddenly right up behind me. Nothing happened , but I sure didn't enjoy my morning commute.
That drives me nuts. Want to kill the other drivers!
I think some people learn how to tailgate when they learn how to drive, seems to be the norm here in LI, no matter what speed or what lane you're at. It's gotten so I'm surprised when I'm not tailgated!
Are you generally aggressive or defensive? Defensive. Used to be more aggressive.
Do you speed? Yes, usually set cruise 7 over.
Do you drive slower with kids in the car? Yes and usually place them so I can see them in the mirror
Do you tailgate? No, but I do let slow people see me
Change lanes often? no, unless driving around blue haired ladies in their Buicks in Va. They like the left lane to avoid trucks.
What do you do if you're cut off by someone - ignore it, usually
Drive slower in rain/snow? Yes.
Come to a complete stop at stop signs? most of the time.
Always signal turns? In traffic yes, rural empty road, no
Play the radio? yes or cds
Talk on the cell without hands-free? rare, usually pull over
Read, text, eat, put on makeup, have 'relations', no
Anything else? smoke, drink coffee, talk about idiots to myself a lot
Ric
I'm with you on the talking to self about idiots!
are you looking in the mirror:)
No fighting, boys!
