CLOSED: Strange spider with second, dead spider attached to back end

Downingtown, PA

I found this creepy critter trapped between the screen and the glass of my sliding back door. I live in a suburb of Pennsylvania just outside of the Philadelphia area in a development (so, no woods nearby!). It's about an inch or an inch and a half in size, including its rather long legs. The body of the spider is a medium brown, with a darker brown streak down the middle, while its legs are a translucent light brown with darker brown stripes. Even stranger than the spider itself is what appears to be attached to it. Hanging from what I believe is its back side is a second spider, which is clearly dead. It is almost entirely translucent, with brown speckles. I believe that, were it alive, the second spider would be about the same size, or possibly a little smaller than the first. It almost appears to be decomposing. My first thought was the the first spider was eating the second, but the second spider is quite clearly attached to the back end. Were they mating?
Also, I'm not sure if you can see in the picture, but one of the first spider's legs appears to be broken, or at least bent at a strange angle around the second spider.
Thanks for any help you can provide!

This spider recently has molted, and the shed skin is still attached to one or more of its legs; it's not a dead spider. Because the image lacks detail, I cannot make a positive i.d., but its overall shape and size is consistent with it being a running crab spider (family Philodromidae); these are harmless to humans.

That makes much more sense than my theory! Thanks so much for your help!
