Does anyone recognize this bug? About an inch long and it looks like they have wings, but they don't seem to be able to fly. We live in the Antelope Valley - desert.
Our big wisteria vine is suddenly dying and we noticed these guys mating all over it yesterday. They were only "out" for a very short time and I see no signs of them now. There are no noticable holes in the trunk or vines. A friend told me it's a longhorn beetle, but I don't know how to get rid of them.
Longhorn beetles eating wisteria?
These are long-horned wood-boring beetles (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) in the genus Neoclytus - see http://tinyurl.com/26ylyhk for an example. I doubt that they would be responsible for damaging your wisteria.
