I cannot get rid of the Japanese beetles this year ! I thought they were bad last summer, but that was nothing. I have two traps set up, and the bags fill up in two days. Even at that, those @#$% beetles are decimating my Rose of Sharon blooms. I know I can spray, but the spray kills bees and butterflies. Aargh !!!

Sorry Countrymom....I know how you feel....so much money, time & energy into a garden, & to have it eaten by bugs...or critters!

For a long term fix of JB infestation you might try milkyspore powder. We put it on the lawn 4 or 5 years ago. I have found 5 JB so far this year. Other beetles also are not in great numbers any more either. Some info that might help:

The JBs here seem to like my Crape Myrtle...haven't found any in the past 3 days though, I just knock them off into container of soapy water, the most I found were 5 at a time

I have another ground hog. He managed to get under the patio where Holly was working just yesterday. I guess I'm going out to get a cantaloupe, to bait the trap with rind. Ric
