thought I would put this here, since it is kind of a bush. It gets large, 6ft or so? and wide.
It dies down each winter and totally regrows in the spring, variegated as you can see.
It seems to spread by sending underground 'runners' and coming up.
It is growing in full sun at my friends house.
I got a start from her, but would really like to know more about it before I plant it.
ID please
Variegated Japanese Knotweed. Not quite as invasive as the normal green type, but still quite bad.

ok, what do you mean by quite bad? Will it take over? Or can I keep it pulled out?, does the soil matter? I will be planting it in fairly poor soil, my friend has it in 'garden' soil, pretty rich and loose, and it does spread for her, but it pulls out easily. Does it take a lot of water?
Yes, it is a high risk of taking over. I'd not plant it.

Ok, thanks so much!
