I planted a Dawn Redwood last fall after the leaves had fallen. It is in zone 7b-8 and humid here on the east coast. The soil is very sandy and I added some topsoil to it before planting the tree. I also unwound the roots so they would not bind the tree.
It has grown leaves on all of all of its branches and looks like it is doing ok. However, quite a few of the leaves are rust colored but are not dried out or crinkly. I cannot see any visible signs of disease or infestations.
Any ideas what can be wrong?

Need Dawn Redwood help
I've seen similar. Possibly a minor nutrient imbalance in the soil. I'd not worry about it.

Thanks!
