I seen a Giant Dragonfly today that had to be at least 4 1/2 " long! I have never seen one that huge!! It was black and had yellow dots all the way down it's back and tail, Would anyone possibly have a photo of one or know what kind it is?? I wanted so bad to get a photo, But, I scared it off when I tried, I'm really hoping it comes back so that I can get one!

Most very large dragonflies are darners in the family Aeshnidae, but yours might be a dragonhunter (Hagenius brevistylus) in the family Gomphidae - see http://tinyurl.com/25wxo2n to see if it looks like your specimen.

I do believe thats it except it seems like the spots on the one I seen was like little yellow spots/circles all the way down.
