Listen to music while gardening? Just the music of songbirds and the babbling stream
Take breaks? If I need a break I plunk myself on the ground and weed
Wear special shoes? crocs
Bring all the tools you may need? First I must FIND them
Do any warmup or stretching beforehand? nope

Hallowell, ME

Ball cap (and sunglasses as needed). No water, No gloves, Wear whatever I'm in at the moment (no tux though). Regular old everyday shoes. Use kneepads when weeding. Use a long hose when needed (like the last week or so!!!) I always plan ahead so I take tools I need, rarely get sidetracked when gardening. I usually make a 'to-do" list and just go from one to the other. Take a break about every half hour (time to smoke pipe and drink some iced tea. Right now trying to recuperate from one helluva gardening weekend!

Love the smell of pipe smoke.

Thomaston, CT

Me too...I had a principal who smoked a pipe, even though the buildings were smoke free!

Now if cigarettes smelled like a pipe I wouldn't mind them so much

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

The guy who leads our hikes smokes a pipe. Some of his tobaccos smell nice.

Maybe I should have added eye protection to the question! Duhh.

Went out at 8:04 AM and now its 10:20 - had to get a drink.

Doubt I will go back in the full sun. For the 3rd year (which I never had in my life) I have sun posioning on my forearms. I tan easily and never had a sunburn - what gives?

Thomaston, CT

More UV rays!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Sherrie, Brian has been dealing with that for the last 4-5 years...it only last a short while and by mid-summer he's fine.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Visor - if I remember
Water - sometimes
Breaks - as needed and to check on my mom
Tools - 'snort' too!!!
clothes - usually long jeans with lots of holes, shirt depends on temp.
insect repellent as needed
Gloves - usually
Shoes - crocs with socks sometimes, cuz feet get real dirty or old sneakers
Stretching - no
Probably should have a list - I have a tendency to get distracted.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Bring water? - I stash water bottles all over cuz I usually lose them all by the end of the day.
Wear a hat? - I wear my giant red bow unless it's hummer time.
Use gloves? Oft but oft not. Gauntlets for the roses always.
Wear long pants and sleeves because of sun/insects? I screen and then wear what I want. Usually red satin pjs
Listen to music while gardening? Never. Listen to the birds.
Take breaks? Oft to have a refreshing beverage which is not to be confused with the water bottle stashes around the garden.
Wear special shoes? Dahliafeets
Bring all the tools you may need? I carry a trug for little tools, twine, stakes etc. but I get big tools one at a time to use and put back one at a time or otherwise I would lose them in the garden.
Do any warmup or stretching beforehand? I dance.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

South Hamilton, MA
