My first asiatic lily to bloom this year. "Grand Cru"...has 5 buds...and is fairly compact in height. Other asiatic photos to follow, which should only take a couple more days...
Asiatics Blooming
Looks wonderful!
When lilies are grown in shade, or bloom indoors, them will have less color development. Very sweet lily.
They do look the same, Bev. For first-year bulbs, I thought these performed really well...with plenty of buds.
I also got LOTS of loose scales from the bags of Asiatics this year. After leaving the scales in the bags for a few weeks...tons of bulblets have formed. They're in cool storage now, then I'm going to pot them up in fall. Of all the varieties I've tried, the Asiatics seems quickest (and easiest) to propagate.
My last Asiatic to bloom would've been "Lennox," but it's the only one where the buds failed. I have no idea why...yet. It had 5-6 good buds, then they each dried just before reaching a good size. I'm going ahead and chopping-off the flower spike, leaving most of the plant so the bulb can regenerate for next year.
Oddly enough, Lennox was in the same direct sun as all the others. Lots of lessons for me to learn about lilies...but the rest of mine are Orientals, and will take a while to bloom yet...
I'm looking forward to Grand Cru and Rosellas Dream too,a few weeks tho.
