Causing problems quickly in my garden -Help please

Havelock, Canada

Can anyone tell me what insect this is and what to do about it. I found it last evening on a plant and its colour is actually GREEN, not brown. The flash made it look brown. It didn't even look like an insect until I took it off the plant and had a good look at it. It did jump at one point. It was somewhat hard when it was terminated. Very tiny. I will post a couple of pics.

Please help. I have holes in several of my plants and I am hoping that this is the culprit - not another pest doing the damage.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Here is another showing size. No that is not a wart on my finger but a shadow from the insect. LOL

Might be scale, not sure, I am still looking. What kind of plant are they on?

This is a treehopper (Hemiptera/Heteroptera: Membracidae); they are sap feeders, and would not be responsible for any holes in your plants. These are interesting critters that come in a wide variety of shapes; see http://tinyurl.com/2a76gsj for some examples. They seldom cause any serious damage to plants.

Thanks so much. I will check out the link. Then I have something else eating my lupin, raspberry, tomato and pepper, morning gloriies, etc. leaves??? Good grief. Whatever is making the holes in the leaves is in the back beds and starting in the front beds too. Guess I better find out what to do about treating my plants for insects that are snacking on the leaves.

Thanks for the awesome response and chris, thanks also for your response as well. I appreciate your attempt to help me.

Happy Gardening
Many, many thanks
