Bloom Master 2010

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Those turned out beautiful, I have lurked watching, wanting to know how they ended up and they are beautiful in the pictures, so in real life I can't imagine how pretty they must be.

I don't know if you saw on the other container thread... the box flipped over in a high wind storm... got all sorts of busted up.. with the nice weather this weekend I will take some shots

No I didn't see that, oh darn that must of been awful! They were beautiful, whatever you did sure worked out very well. I bought the womans book who did the plantings, but way too poor and cheap to buy the pots she was selling. I enjoyed her suggestion on combinations of plants tho.

I had high winds strong enough to cause all the mulch in my garden to become little projectiles. I couldn't figure out what all the scratches were on all the plant leaves (iris, hosta, etc) then it finally dawned on me. I was lucky at that time because I didn't have many containers.

I couldn't even touch the broken pieces for a week.. it was very depressing... but what is left in there is still growing nicely

Austin, TX

Wow, mulch damage that's a new one! I'm soooo sorry.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

somehow (don't ask me how) it landed top down.. the thing was so heavy I could barely pick it back up again

this post was the last nice photo of it http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=8068226

Wow, I am amazed it survivied at all if it flipped upside down.
The original picture it is very beautiful. I would of been so upset.

trust me... I was... and as I said on the other thread.. the black eyed susan vines were holding the broken pieces so I had to wait for them to shrivel up before I could get them out... insult to injury

Flowers might do well in the bloommaster but strawberries and cukes do not. I have one, that I'm thinking of planting pansies in.

good info thanks Joy

Your welcome, also, remember to use the lightest potting mix you can find and mix in the perlite or vermeculite at a pretty good ratio; like 40/60 the last number being your medium. I used coconut coir in mine as it absorbs moisture and holds it in and with the bloommaster that is what your will need, I also used those moisture retaining sheets you can add to the bottom of the container.

I used coir, perlite and polymer gels mixed in as well... along with slow release fertilizer

onewish1: Sounds like the way to go. I think flowers when in bloom would look great in them and I was thinking pansies so I could attract bees to the back yard for my veggies this Spring/Summer.

Could you tell me where you purchased the Terracotta post hangers? I remember seeing wooden hangers somewhere in the past but I think it was at a garden/craft show. I would love to find some like the ones that you are using and your yard looks just fabulous. So many great ideas!
Thank you, Shleigh

thank you very much... they are hang-a-pot hangers

Boy those are reasonable or did I read something wrong?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

yes they are... they had a stand in Edison at the flower show... I mentioned I originally bought them in a co-op on here... and they offered me the co-op price in person.. since I was a return customer

Silver Spring, MD(Zone 6b)

Allison, how did you make the holes in the sides of your pot? Keyhole tool?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I bought them that way from bloom master.... but I am sure you can cut the holes yourself
