I laid my water bottle down a week or so ago. When I went to get a drink, there were 3 of these scary-looking guys on the neoprene sleeve. Any idea whether they are good guys or bad? I've seen 1-2 since then near the house.

Thanks for your help!

Don't know what kind of caterpillars they are, but I think they are really interesring. Cool!

It is kinda cool. I'm wondering if it's a butterfly larvae of some sort.

This a caterpillar of a butterfly in the family Nymphalidae (four-footed/brush-footed butterflies); such as a mourning cloak butterfly (Nymphalis antiopa) - see http://tinyurl.com/2dhv7u4 for an example.

Thanks much! Makes perfect sense as I get a lot of Frittilaries, admirals, painted ladies, and others here. I'm glad I put them back in the plant beds.
