Wondering what kind of spider this is. About an inch and a half with the legs and very fast. I'm in northern BC Canada, about 10 hours from the US boarder. This was on my wall near my computer, and I definitely have a spider phobia, so was scared stiff. I have another one I need to get a picture of too, this one I've only seen this once. I have two toddlers who love bugs, so I'd really like some info on this guy.
What kind of spider?
This appears to be a wolf spider (family Lycosidae); they commonly come indoors while searching for prey. Although large specimens can deliver a painful bite if mishandled, they are not dangerous to humans.
Thank you Suunto. Do you know what I can do for my kids to lessen the pain if they were to get bit by one? They're 19 months and 30 months.
I'm not a physician, so I hesitate to give advice in this instance; you likely should check with a pharmacist.
