Found this 3" critter on an astilbe stalk today. It has been motionless all day and ignores me. Any ideas?

This appears to be a female eastern dobsonfly (Corydalus cornutus; Megaloptera: Corydalidae) - see http://tinyurl.com/2ax7jv3 for images. The females have powerful jaws whose bite can draw blood if handled carelessly. The males have greatly elongated forceps-like jaws that barely can pinch.
Thanks Suunto, I kinda thought it might be, but it has been years since I have seen one. Also, its not as clear when its wraped on a stem as opposed to crawling on a wall or walk. Thanks again.
