CLOSED: Orange Grub, After Miracle Grow Garden Soil

Pittsburgh, PA

I added Garden Soil last year to give it a try.... I think that was a huge mistake! Once I opened all the bags and dumped them on top to get tilled in. I noticed tiny orange grubs with black dot on its head. These are much smaller than the white grubs I've seen in the past. This year my project was to dig out my whole garden and sift every inch of soil threw 1/2 inch screen. "But thats another forum." I found about 25 of the little guys and threw them to the birds. When I get a chance I'll find another one and take a pic of it to help this along. The only damage I saw one do last years was one eggplant that was touching the ground got one in it. It did such little damage the eggplant was still fine to eat. Anyways Does anyone else have this problem and should I be concerned this year or years to come. Should I try to kill them off and how? I'll post more if you need But I think that covers it. "Is this a scam from Scott's to sell grub control"

A photo would be very helpful; these could be fly larvae instead of grubs.

I will dig one up and take a pic tomorrow morning they move so slow its not a hard find plus the bright orange make them stand out like a sore thumb.

Ok I figured it out it is a Click Beetle Larvae. How ever I have quite a few of them in my garden. Do they poss a threat to my root system .... to the plants....to the fruits themself. Any info would be good thank. I did not take this photo I found it on Google images after my camera would not let me get close enough to take a clear pic. I will also try to find some info in the bug forums also.

These are quite common in our garden as well. Although most appear to be harmless scavengers, some can be quite damaging to underground plant parts, especially potato tubers.

Thank you for your help!
